Setting up DFGallery 2.0 (not)

Dfgallery is a beautiful flash photo gallery template offered from Deziner Folio.  It is 100% free and simply ecstatic, if you can get it to work.  I will be honest and say that I have been trying for weeks to get this to operate on my Ubuntu Linux Server and have had no success.  It really does appear to be a beautiful gallery though.

There are a few main problems.  First, it seems that the technical support is less than par.  There simply is no response from the tech team or the programmers to the public.  They do offer a blog included in their site for users to add comments and problems.  They even share information and fixes between each other, but there simply is not any reply for fixes from the actual programmers themselves.  The main issue it seems is the following error:

We expected ‘true’ from the url : http://your-site-here/api/rest/test_curl

It seems to be a mixture of configuration issues between your install.php, config.php and the .htaccess files.  While there are many fixes offered by several users, none of them seem to work.  Given that I am the main programmer and designer of my Linux Server, I have command over the entire system.  This means that I have full ROOT privileges and still to this day I cannot figure out what is it that this error wants in life.

What I have found is that it seems that the path to the “test_curl” does not even exist.  This cannot be reset because this files does not really even exist.  Now this may be a script or protocol that is actually running a test and then creating a file, but this does not seem to be the issue.

I would absolutely love to promote this tool here on my site to help this fellow programmer promote his work and accept donations, but without support and answers to help display the hard work that he has conducted, it is difficult.

I will leave this particular post open to the public so that if you have a fix that works, you are welcome to post it here.
